Day two of our impromptu road trip last weekend took us from Merced (where I lived for two years when I was an itty bitty) to Yosemite. *sigh* I could go back there every single weekend for the rest of my life. Really. The drive from the valley up through the hills to the park was gorgeous. I'm kicking myself for not stopping more frequently as there were so many great things I could have photographed. Next time. So here you go: my view from the front seat...

web_5664.jpg web_5661.jpg Blog6.jpg We passed through the town of Mariposa and headed up into Yosemite. Our trip was delayed by about 10 minutes due to this (beneath which is the ROAD).  They'd built a bridge across the river to accommodate traffic.

web_5671.jpg The kids played in the snow while we JT put on the chains. In hindsight, we probably should have just bought the 4WD vehicle, but we figured we'd never use it, living in So Cal. Ah, well. After spending a little time *ahem* getting the chains on, we drove a mile up the road only to learn that we didn't actually need them. So JT took them off, in about 1/20th of the time it took to get them on. I'm not making fun... I'm grateful for him and his patience. I'd have thrown the chains to the side of the road and braved it...
web_5680.jpg web_5694.jpg web_5709.jpg Yosemite is breathtaking. There is really no way to describe the grandeur. And while the photographs don't really do it justice, they do a better job than I could do with my words.
web_5714.jpgweb_5717.jpg Blog5.jpg Blog7.jpg Blog8.jpg And, my favorite shot of the day. It deserves to be BIG. web_5726.jpg

Rach, the shot of Rowan in the car (looks like JT is putting her shoes on maybe), is I think the cutest photo that I have ever seen of her. You can actually see her little personality behing that little grin. Cute
