We enjoyed our first summer beach evening this past weekend on the Balboa Peninsula. It was a lovely night, at least by my standards. (You know I like it cold.) The breeze was chilly, all the kids had red, runny noses, and sweatshirts were a necessity (though some of the children forgot about the breeze when the sight of sand came into view).

We'd planned on roasting dogs, making s'mores and enjoying a bonfire, only to find that all the pits had been taken. Instead, we ate chips and cold Hershey's bars, and chatted while other people roasted dogs and made s'mores the kids played and played and played.

We've already made lovely friends in our new area, and I'm grateful to feel like we belong here. I'm also grateful that no one threw anything at my camera (as a hint to get me to put it away) as I snapped pictures throughout the evening.

Next time, we'll head to the beach at noon. And yes, I'll be taking the camera.

These photos are super cool Rachel...as usual. Wishing I had access to a beach. But no, our sand doesn't come with salty fun-ness. (unless maybe at morgan lake. nasty!)
